Itinerary

FIRST DAY: VISIT TO CATANEO, MOLINETE AND LA CONGONA

  • Departure from Chachapoyas at 4:30 a.m.
  • Arrival at 7 am to the community of Leymebamba, then transfer to the place called Las Palmas, where we will have breakfast with a view of the mountains typical of the cloud forest.
  • We start our hike from this place and explore the lost citadels of Cataneo, Molinete and Congona.
  • These citadels are covered with a lot of cloud forest vegetation, habitat of Andean toucan, hummingbird acorallado, trogons and other birds of the place, arrival to the archaeological remains of Cataneo and molinete, in which we will explore and learn about the structures of these citadels and their iconography.
  • Afterwards, we will continue our exploration to the Congona citadel, where the three iconographies of the Chachapoyas culture were found long ago. Such as rhombus, sig sag and grega.
  • Box lunch with a view of the surrounding mountains to appreciate the geography of this part of the Northeastern Andes in the territory of the Chachapoya warriors. Then we will continue our visit to this place and then we will continue our hike to the place called “La Fila”.
  • Then return to the city of Chachapoyas.

Get ready for your activity
  • Adequate clothing for the tours and hikes to be done in the Amazon region and in this adventure.
  • Rain jacket and/or poncho (Porsiacaso).
  • Medicine if you suffer from any disease such as asthma, altitude sickness among other illnesses.
  • Sun block, repellent, hat and/or cap for sun protection.
  • Provide yourself with batteries for your camera to be able to take the pictures you want.
  • The hike to these places is recommended for adults in good physical condition.

HOURS AND KILOMETERS TO BE COVERED DURING OUR TRIP:

  • Hike from the place called Las Palmas visiting Cataneo, Molinete and La Congona to reach the place called La Fila (18 kilometers) with a difference in altitude of 1,000 meters.
