“TREKKING DISCOVER THE GREAT VILAYA 4D/3N” is a four-day, three-night trekking expedition that takes you to explore the magnificent region of the Great Vilaya. This adventure is designed for trekking enthusiasts who wish to immerse themselves in the impressive nature and rich history of the area. Prepare to witness spectacular scenery, ancient ruins and a diversity of flora and fauna as you enter one of Peru’s most exciting and revealing journeys.

Itinerary

FIRST DAY: VISIT TO THE SACRED TOMBS OF THE CHACHAPOYA PEOPLE

  • Breakfast at 7 am at the selected hotel.
  • We leave from the city of Chachapoyas at 7:30 am to the parking lot of Pueblo de los Muertos, from where we start our walk appreciating the Utcubamba and Sonche canyons and you can also appreciate the waterfall of Gocta, arrival at the archaeological site visit and return to the parking lot for transfer to the town of Lamud for lunch, then continue our journey to the community of Cruz Pata from where we will walk to the impressive Sarcophagus of Karajía Chachapoyas funeral pattern unique in its kind, visit and take pictures return to our vehicle to continue our journey to the natural viewpoint called Ticlla, special place for photographic shots to the valley of Huaylla Bethlehem, then continue our journey to the valley where we will spend the night in tents.

SECOND DAY: TREKKING IN SEARCH OF THE REQUESTED CITIES OF THE CHACHAPOYA BY INCA TRAIL

  • Breakfast in the valley of Huaylla Belen at 8:00 a.m. taking pictures.
  • Start of our hike at 9:00 am from the Huaylla Belen Valley in search of the lost cities of the Chachapoyas, by pre-Hispanic road enjoying the lush vegetation inhabited by Andean Toucan, hummingbird acorallado, trogones and other birds of the place, arrival at the archaeological site of the Pirquilla visit this village Chachapoya lost in the forest with more than 400 circular houses, with stone bases at different levels.
  • After this visit we will have a box lunch (picnic), then we will continue our hike amidst spectacular views, mountains, streams and this beautiful geography that gives us our mother nature, to reach the village of Congón which its population is dedicated to the production of organic coffee that is the economic livelihood of those places, also spend the night in a family home of the people where you can appreciate the way of life and the idiosyncrasies of its inhabitants.

THIRD DAY: HIKE IN SEARCH OF THE SECOND LOST CITY (LANCHE)

  • Breakfast at the family home at 6:30 am.
  • Beginning of our hike from the town of Congon at 7:15 am in the middle of forest, rivers and mountains, habitat of Andean Toucan, Andean hummingbird, trogons and other birds of the place, arrival to the archaeological rest of Lanche, visit of this Chachapoya town lost in the forest with more than 300 circular houses, with stone bases at different levels.
  • Then we will have a box lunch (picnic) in a special place with a panoramic view of the archaeological site and the valley of Gran Vilaya.
  • Then we will continue our hike to the pass called Yumal which is located at 3300 meters above sea level, a place from where we can see all the mountains with lots of forest and we can also observe the most important archaeological monument of the Peruvian Northeast, the fortress of Kuelap, which is located on top of a rocky promontory at 3000 meters above sea level, then continue our journey in our private vehicle to the community of Tingo where we will spend the night in a hostel in the community.

FOURTH DAY: VISIT TO THE FORTRESS OF KUELAP SACRED PLACE CHACHAPOYA

  • Breakfast at the hostel at 7:30 a.m.
  • We leave from the community of Tingo at 8 in the morning to take the cable car to Malca (parking), from where we will begin our walk to the archaeological complex of Kuelap, arrival at the monument visit the outside of the monument for about an hour, where the guide will explain hypotheses, theories and history as well as about the conservation work, scientific studies of the latest discoveries of the monument itself.
  • After visiting this important archaeological complex we return to the parking lot to take the cable car to the town of Tingo where we will have lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Then in our private vehicle we will continue our trip to the city of Chachapoyas to spend the night and return to the city of Jaen to return to the city of Lima via Latam.

IMPORTANT: prices based on a minimum of two people in a double and/or matrimonial room.

Remember!

  • This hike is recommended for people in good physical condition and who like adventure because there are slopes ranging from 500 meters to 1500 meters, during the days of hiking.
  • Bring your personal sleeping bags and personal sleeping mats.
  • First day this visit is less trekking most is by car, but in hikes 10 kilometers with a difference in altitude of 500 meters.
  • Second day 15 kilometers approximately with an elevation gain of 1300 meters.
  • Third day 19 kilometers uphill with a difference in altitude of 1500 meters and approximately 8 kilometers downhill to reach the community of Choctamal.
  • You should bring adequate clothing for trekking in the Northeastern Andes, land of the Chachapoyas warriors.
  • Poncho and/or rain jacket.
  • Special hiking shoes and/or sneakers for the mountains.
  • Warm clothes because the place is cold.
  • Medicine if you suffer from any disease such as asthma, altitude sickness, etc.
  • Sun block, repellent, hat and/or cap for sun protection.
  • Provide batteries for your camera to be able to take the pictures you want because in the valley of Huaylla Belen there is no electricity, and the other days there is no problem.
  • You should bring adequate clothing for trekking in the Northeastern Andes, land of the Chachapoyas warriors. Poncho and/or rain jacket.
  • Special hiking shoes and/or sneakers for the mountains.
