COMPLETE CHACHAPOYAS VIA TARAPOTO 6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS

• Arrival to Tarapoto by airplane, reception at the airport and transfer to the colectivo station of Turismo Selva. Then transfer to Chachapoyas driving towards Moyobamba city. Then you will continues towards Chachapoyas, throughout the Alto Mayo Conservation Area until we get to Abra Patricia. Hence, you will be able to observe the Andes mountain chains and the exuberant vegetation of the cloud forest, mountains, rivers, lakes and much more.
• Arrival to Chachapoyas, reception and transfer to the selected hotel.

• Breakfast at the hotel at 7:30 am.
• Depart from Chachapoyas at eight thirty a.m. to visit the archaeological monument of Kuelap.  Enroute we will stop to view the ruins of Macro and explain the history and function in relationship with Kuelap.  Then we will take the cable car to La Malca station then continuing on we will tour the fortified Citadel of Kuelap, which dates back to the sixth century AD.

Kuelap

• Our tour will take approximately three hours, and after meeting back at the station to take the cable car to Tingo village and stop for lunch.  In the afternoon we will continue our journey to the valley of Utcubamba and return to Chachapoyas city, overnight at the selected hotel.

• Breakfast at the hotel at 7:20 am.

• Then we will leave from Chachapoyas at 8:00 am towards Quiocta cave parking lot. Hence we will start the hiking appreciating the landscapes and potatoes plantations. Arrival to the cave where we will see stalagmites and stalactites walking about 550 meters deep in the cave, visit and return to the parking lot in order to go to town of Lamud, where we will have lunch.

Karajía’s Sarcophagi

• After that we will continue the tour towards Cruz Pata’s community from where we will walk until the amazing Karajía’s Sarcophagi, a unique Chachapoyas funeral pattern, arrival and our guide will explain us about the sarcophagi and you can take pictures of the area, then we will return to Chachapoyas overnight at the selected hotel.

• Breakfast at the hotel at 7:20 am.

• We depart from the city of Chachapoyas at 8:00 am to the community of San Bartolo,  from where we will walk for approximately one hour to reach this archaeological sight that dates back to the thirteenth century AD.  There will be time to explore and take photos before we return to our transportation and on to the community of Leymebamba to have lunch.

Leymebamba Museum

• After lunch we will visit the Leymebamba Museum which houses more than 219 mummies in a perfect state of conservation and more than 2500 artifacts including ceramics, textiles, wood carvings etc., which were used as offerings by the Chachapoya.
• At the end of our visit we will return to the city of Chachapoyas, overnight at the selected  hotel.

• Breakfast at the hotel at 7:30 am

• We depart from Chachapoyas at 8:30 am to the community of Cocachimba, where we will start our hike at ten in the morning, appreciating the two waterfalls, fields of sugar cane and other typical local products.  We will descend into a habitat known as the Cloud Forest in this part of Peru.  This is the habitat of Peru’s national bird, the Andean Cock of the Rock, the yellow-tailed woolly monkey and a multitude of hummingbirds and other tropical birds.  The path ends at the base of the beautiful Gocta waterfall, and then returns to the community of Cocachimba to have lunch. Then our vehicle awaits us to take us to the city of Chachapoyas overnig night at the selected hotel.

• Depart from Chachapoyas to Tarapoto at 8:30 am by Turismo Selva agency, then transfer to Tarapoto. Then you will continues towards Moyobamba throughout the Alto Mayo Conservation Area until we get to Abra Patricia. Hence, you will be able to observe the Andes mountain chains and the exuberant vegetation of the cloud forest, mountains, rivers, lakes and much more.
• Arrival to Tarapoto to take your airplane to Lima.
